Nobody Wants To Be The Last One, There Has To Be Someone For Me. Caitlyn Elizabeth Hanson walked down the street, the day was once more overcast, and she had a slight smile on her face. She was in a happy mood for once and she was glad that she had hunted only a few hours ago. She was used to getting looks from the other people walking down the street, though she did not do anything about it, it was what she was, everything about what she was, was meant to draw these humans to her, no matter how far she went in the world, it would still happen. Sitting down on a bench that was slightly out of the way, she looked as the humans went on with what they were doing. This was when Caitlyn did feel jealous of what they had and she would never feel. They would grow old and have a family, they would feel love without any secrets, this was something she would never have, she would never feel herself growing old, no grey hairs, and she would never be able to hold a baby that she could call her own. The pleasant mood she had earlier seemed to be fading away as she continued to think of this loss that came with immortality.
Today she was wearing another pair of her jeans, with a light red top once more compeered with her leather jacket and boots. This was the only type of clothing she liked to wear, it made her blend in the best she could, she even wore blue contact lenses which causes her eyes to go the colour of violet because of the sharp colour contrast, but it made her seem slightly more human. This time next year, she was sure that she would have to move on because she was pretending to be in her senior year and she was living with an aunt who did not exists, Caitlyn had not intention on staying in Forks for a long period of time. Though it was town she was slowly learning to love, this was something that did not happen often. Crossing her legs, she picked up a book that was in her bag, she needed to look human enough and considering she was near a park, and it was almost a nice day for this part of the country, she thought reading would be a good thing. The book was on nothing special, but it allowed her to escape for a short while, she had to read it at a human pace, to actually enjoy the book.
Humming softly to herself without thinking, it sounded wonderful to any human passing by, any vampire would have a perfect singing voice. Caitlyn looked up from her book, she was rather grateful she had chosen the bench as far away as possible. As she looked down at the book once more, she was not actually reading anymore, she was going back to the thoughts from earlier on. She had met a coven called the Cullens, and they all seemed to have mates, it had been a nice scene, but she had found no-one, it was a dream she wanted since she was human, to find the one, but now she saw that dreams are no longer good enough. Caitlyn would wait for the real thing, she was sure she would know. Shaking her head at her thoughts, she knew she was being silly.

Nobody Wants To Be The Last One, There Has To Be Someone For Me. Reading her book, she would occasionally glance up and look around; it was rather a peaceful change just to sit here and watch these humans live like they had no cares in the world. This must be what it must feel like to be human. Just to be able to spend a day out in the open, doing whatever they liked. This was one of those rare moments in which she was able to stay around humans for a short while. Caitlyn had been hunting the night before; the victim had been someone that had crossed her path. She had been on her way to hunt to Canada, but he came into her range and her instincts took over. The guilt had set in not soon after. But now she getting over it once more, like she did with anything that involved her hunting, the world would forget the soul that had passed over, it helped to think they were going onto something better.
The book in which she was reading, was a history book to be more precise, from her own time, there was a lot she does not remember from when she was human. It would seem the majority of that life had been wiped away from her when she became what was described as a creature of the night. All Caitlyn did remember was her family, mainly her mother, father and her baby sister. It was rather a hurtful memory to think about. Caitlyn had found out where they had been buried, it was the place where they think she now lay for all eternity, though she was not. Once a year she would make the journey in the dead of night to go to Ohio to visit their final resting spot. Often she would think that if there is anything after this life, that they would be looking down on her, hopefully they would be guiding her on the right path once more. It was a silly notion but it was nice to have a little hope in this existence, one never knew what was waiting around the corner.
Caitlyn drew her attention back to the book that was now resting in her lap. Following each line from left to right, she once more lost her way within the information that was being fed into her mind. She was imagining being back in her own time, with her family arguing with her mother that she did not want to go to another ball. That was another memory she remembered, it always did make her smile, and it was moments like that she did miss about being a human. At the moment, she was reading about the rule of Queen Victoria, she was the Queen in England at the time. That was a place where she would like to visit, maybe she would go over to Britain once she had been every where she could within the United States, she had heard that Scotland was constantly over cast, it could be a possibility.
That was when she picked up on a scent that seemed to be getting closer to her. Looking up, she saw a male human walking and stop. She looked back down at her book, when he then spoke. Caitlyn looked up once more and gave a soft smile. “Oh yes, its eleven thirty.” She said look down at her own watch. “I have never seen you around these parts before.” Caitlyn found herself saying, trying to resist the urge to rip out his throat. “How rude of me, I am Caitlyn Hanson.” She stated as she placed her book on her lap and looked up at him. There was something about this human that made her think; she could not place her finger on what it was. "You look a little lost." She chuckled as she looked at him, her eyes twinkling slightly.

Nobody Wants To Be The Last One, There Has To Be Someone For Me. Watching this human in front of her, he was pretty tall from what she could see from where she was sat, though she was only average height for a woman, but that was because of the time she is from. Caitlyn still had an amused expression, and she had to stop herself from rolling her eyes at this man who was just staring. It was her unnatural beauty drawing him like the prey he should be. Sighing slightly, she could never have a normal chat without someone staring and becoming in awe because of how she looks. Now if these humans that she was a vampire, they would see her as a monster and they would most certainly run a mile, screaming in terror. If she just even smiled, there was no way back for these humans. Finally he started to respond to the most basic of questions she had asked him. “A pleasure to meet you as well Evan.” Caitlyn said once more with a small smile, it was nothing special to her.
Still, she was amused by this male human who was now known to her as Evan, he was luckily that she had already been hunting the night before, or he would be her meal. Caitlyn knew that he must be the age of what she was stuck as for the rest of eternity, so he was still standing out in life really. In a way she was jealous that he could age, she was jealous of any human, when they say they want to live eternally, they would forget about that if they knew what that price was and how many lives would have to be taken as a result of becoming what she is. Looking away for a moment, she knocked her emotions into check, if was had not had a power then she would be sure that her power would be that she would be far to over-emotional, not something she wanted but it was something she could not help.
Once more the amused expression appeared on her face as he started to talk about the weather, this was a first, people that met her would make some excuse to walk away because she often gave off an aura that meant she was dangerous and this man was ignoring that and she was not sure if he was being a fool or just plain stupid. But she would let that slide for the moment. “Well, welcome to Port Angeles, the town that never has any sunshine.” She said in greeting, she nodded her head slight and the chuckled once more.
“Yes, the weather is lovely today, it’s a nice change from the rain we have been having lately.” Caitlyn replied with a hint of amusement in her voice, she could feel the venom filling at the back of her throat. She truly had no idea why this was happening, she only hunted last night, but she was assuming that this was because she had so many humans around her and now Evan was standing in front of her. Forcing all the self control she had she knew that she should run off and hide away for a while but that would be suspicious and she could not let that happen. “You are more than welcome to sit down if you like.” She finally spoke once more, he really was trying hard to make conversation and she thought that this was rather sweet, it make her smile and it also amused her. It was making her day so far talking to this human, the only reason why she was out in the public was to exercise her control over her need to feed on human blood. "So, if you don't mind me asking where are are you staying during your time here in Port Angeles?"

Nobody Wants To Be The Last One, There Has To Be Someone For Me. A smile was still on her face as she watched Evan sit down, it must be a traveller, and he seemed the type to do just that. “I am very sure that you will not be disturbing me, it nice to be able to talk to someone for once.” It was a genuine comment that she made when he asked his question. The company was a nice change from being on her own, no matter how much her mind was telling her to rip his throat. Her eyes darkened slightly at the thought of his blood. Shaking her head slightly as she tried to rid herself of such a thought, this was not the time or place since she was in the public area and not in the forest where she usually did her hunting, where no-one could hear them scream or shout for help, it stopped her attacking more people than necessary.
Turning to look at him as he sat down, she crossed her legs as she placed her book back in the bag she always carried around with her, it helped her to blend it a bit better with the human population. Everything she did was calculated, every unneeded breath, every blink, every shift when she was standing. She had to breathe exactly sixteen breaths per minute and blink every two seconds. It was the most basic functions that humans did, she no longer needed to do, but to blend in she had to remember to these functions. This was the hard part of what she was; now it was interacting with a human without wanting to bite him and drain every drop of blood from his already dying body. It was how her mother used to say to her, you are born to die. She chuckled at this, in her case it was, you were born to be a nightmare to children everywhere.
“Well, I am sure that you will find a job, I hear there are a few places looking for staff, just go and ask it could not harm now could it.” Caitlyn smirked slightly, she could help when she wanted, she was not just a terror of the night, she could actually show her former bold personality when she wanted to. “As for Forks, it’s an interesting down to say the least.” Once more she found herself chuckling. “So where are you from considering your accent is a dead give away that you are not from around these parts.” She asked trying to make light conversation and make him slightly more comfortable in her presence, she was not used to doing this sort of thing. Even in the high school she would stay away from the humans, only conversing when she saw the need to do such a thing. It was funny how from simple things, she could start to develop her self-control further. If Caitlyn was honest, her greatest fear right now, was being found out by a human and having them and herself destroyed by the Voltrui, it was them who she was scared of, no human deserved to have to face them, just because they found out something they should not have, and the result of that happening was death or them being doomed for the rest of time, not something she would wish on other people, she knew that from personal experience. At this point she appeared to have a look of deep thought on her face. “Oh sorry, my mind went away for a moment.” She smiled.

Nobody Wants To Be The Last One, There Has To Be Someone For Me. This was her twisted fate with no trace of anything that could possibly hint at kindness, she could easily rip out his throat and she was not even telling him to run. She was helpless and often unforgiving. Caitlyn ran her hand through her hair as she shook this thought from her mind. No power could on Earth could change her back to the human she wished she could have grown into be. Long ago she would have loved to be a vampire, but now she resented it, she could see all the things she could have been those dreams and had faded and ended a long time ago. This pain was deep and this life was a cheap and dooming way of living for the rest time. Truthfully there was very little hope inside her, anything else would soon vanish. Caitlyn wished for something to release her from this existence or she still wished for a family to love, if not that she wanted this world to be finished with her.
Caitlyn had not noticed Evan until she snapped out of her thoughts; she was being ridiculous big ridiculous, but these thoughts were imprinted and they would never leave. She had power over these humans and they still continued to grow, she would forever be imprinted in their mind if she did not kill them there and then. They should draw back in fear if they found out who she was. “Yes I live in Forks, it’s a very quiet down, I very much prefer this weather, its just right for who I am.” Her eyes glinted slightly as they slowly started to darken to the colour black she was sure they would turn to, not even her contacts would hide the. She let out a small sigh. You would think that only so much could go wrong in one lifetime and yet this human did not know that his life could become a nightmare if they struck up a friendship.
”That sounds like an interesting plan.” Then she listened to what else he was saying, she was quite shocked that he was admitting this. “Wow, that is the first time I have heard someone say such a thing to me.” The statement was very true; everyone else would just walk away or stare at her from another place. “Apparently I have that effect on people and I still don’t understand why, when I think they should run away from me.” This was another version of the truth, she knew why they looked at her, but she knew they should run as far away as they could. But truthfully if Caitlyn needed to hunt, then they would not get very far away from her. She was learning the hard way not to become friends with people, it ended badly, it often ended with them becoming the meal. Truthfully, Caitlyn was afraid of herself, no matter how controlled she was, she always slipped up, and Caitlyn knew she was a monster; her heart could not break because it no longer beat, but if it did, it would break in half. She watched several of hundreds of people die at her hand, and she saw there pain as she drained their blood and still all she could see was her own. Because of herself, she could not trust anyone around her to the point she wished she could. Looking at Evan as he looked at his hand, she had sadness in her eyes as she eyes his neck.
