Jasper is one-hundred-and-sixty-two years old, and appears to be twenty. As a vampire, he gained the ability to manipulate the emotions of those around him. He spent a century creating and raising newborns in the Monterrey area before joining the Cullens. He is still relatively new to the "vegetarian" lifestyle.

Dr. Carlisle Cullen
Carlisle is the head of the Cullen family. He has lived for approximately three-hundred-years, but appears to be twenty-three. His most prominent trait is his compassion, and he spent a century living with the Volturi.

Esme looks to be twenty-six years old, but she is closer to two-hundred As the maternal figure in the Cullen clan, she loves her adopted children deeply, but still mourns the loss of her deceased child.

Edward was born in Chicago, Illinois, and is one-hundred-and-seven years-old, but he is frozen in his seventeen-year-old body. While dying of the Spanish influenza, he was changed into a vampire by Carlisle. Edward has the special ability to read minds.

Mary "Alice" Brandon Cullen
Alice one-hundred-and-seven years old, but appears to be nineteen. Alice can see the future. However, her ability is limited; she can only see the outcome of a decision once it is made. Alice's early history is very vague, as she remembers nothing of her human life and woke up alone as a vampire.

Emmett McCarthy-Cullen
Emmet is ninety-one years old, but appears to be twenty. Emmet was living in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, in 1935 when he was mauled by a bear. He was found by Rosalie, who carried him to Carlisle asking him to spare Emmett's life by turning him into a vampire.

Rosalie Lillian Hale
Rosalie's physical age is eighteen, but she is ninety-one years old. One night, she met her intoxicated fiancé and his friends. She was then beaten, presumably raped, and left to die. Carlisle discovered her and changed her into a vampire. After her transformation, she tortured and killed those who had beaten her, but did not drink their blood.

James
He's cold and he's cruel. James is one of the most lethal vampires around. He feeds off of humans and enjoys tracking humans that have drawn the attention of other vampires.

He's cold and he's cruel. Laurent belongs to a nomadic coven of vampires who feed off of humans. He did most of the speaking for his group even though he wasn’t the groups’ leader.

A red-haired, cat-like vampire, Victoria is originally a member of James' coven. After James is "killed:, she and James decide to exact revenge on Bella. Bella describes her as "wild" and "chaotic" with a "distinctly feline" posture, and says that she has eyes that "flickered edgily."

Peter is a friend of Jasper's. When Jasper left Maria, he joined Peter and his mate, Charlotte. After Jasper leaves them, Peter and Charlotte continue to live as nomads.

Alec is a very young vampire, appearing to be between the ages of twelve and sixteen. He is able to cut off the senses of others entirely. He is the twin brother of Jane.

Jane is a very young vampire, appearing to be between the ages of twelve and sixteen. She has the power to create the illusion of unbearable pain in the minds of others. She is the twin sister of Alec.

Chelsea is a member of the Volturi's guard. She has the ability to change emotional bonding.

Charlie is Bella Swan's father and works as a police officer in the town of Forks. Charlie is quiet, and often keeps to himself. He is border-line socially awkward, but he has a good heart and loves his daughter dearly.

Renée is Bella Swan's mother, who works as a substitute teacher that loves Participating in various book clubs, mediation classes, playing tennis, attempting pottery-making, and taking French classes.

Phil is Bella's step dad that is a minor league baseball player for the Jacksonville Suns and a high school baseball coach.

Mike is in many of Bella's classes at school and the two are mildly good friends. When Bella arrived in Forks, Mike developed a crush on her, but Bella suggested he ask out Jessica instead. Mike is a nice, normal, high school kid.

Sue is wife to Henry Clearwater and mother to Seth and Leah. She watches over all of the wolf pack like they are all of her children.

Jacob "Jake" Black
Jacob is sixteen years old and Bella Swan's best friend. Jacob is a Quileute Native American and lives on the La Push reservation. He is the grandson of Ephraim Black and the rightful Alpha of the pack, but he forfeited the position to Sam Uley.

Samuel "Sam" Uley
Sam is twenty years old and the leader of the Quileute werewolf pack. Sam is very committed to the pack's duty, and hates the Cullens for tearing his life apart.

Paul
Paul is prone to angry outbursts which cause him to burst into his wolf form. Paul is one of the bigger wolves, and has dark gray fur. He is the most volatile member of the pack, and becomes so enraged when he learns that Jacob has told Bella about the pack that he turns into a wolf and attempts to attack her.

Jared
Jared was the first werewolf to phase after the pack's leader, Sam Uley. He is one of the five werewolves to imprint: he imprinted on Kim, a girl he sat next to in class. Before he was a werewolf, he never paid any attention to her. After his transformation, he looked at her once and imprinted.

Embry Call
Embry is a member of the werewolf pack and Jacob's "wingman". His mother was a woman of the Makah tribe, not the Quileutes; since the werewolf traits are inherited from father to son, he is the half-brother of either Quil, Jacob, or Sam. This causes some stress within the pack, since all of these men's fathers were married before and at the time of his birth.

Quil Ateara
Quil is a member of the werewolf pack and Jacob's "wingman". Unlike most other members of the pack, he was happy about becoming a werewolf, since it allowed him to finally have his friends back. As a wolf, Quil has chocolate-brown fur.

Leah is the only female werewolf in the history of the Quileute tribe. Leah is very bitter and cynical, and constantly thinks about things that the other pack members avoid, such as Embry's parentage.

Seth Clearwater
Seth is Leah's younger brother. He transforms into a werewolf during the events of New Moon, around the same time as his sister, Leah. He idolizes Jacob Black, and is said to remind Bella of a younger Jacob. He is very innocent and naive.
