Good morning day, Sorry you're not here. All those times before were never this unclear.
It's hard to walk when you can't even crawl, Once I had this world, but now I've lost it all. He needed to get away. Instead of things getting easier over time, the sensation of drowning from the inside was only becoming more overwhelming. More so when Alice wasn't around and he wasn't sure he knew what that meant. Okay, that was a lie. He knew exactly why he sought her presence and why it brought relief but he couldn't bare it, not now. Jasper and Bella were everywhere and he felt like he was being crushed beneath it all. It hurt no less now then it had in the beginning and it made it hard to be around anyone. He had dressed, left a note for anyone who cared to know where he was going, and headed out. He wasn't aware of the direction his feet had been taking him until he was at the field. The clouds were rolling in, and it started to rain. Far off, he could hear thunder. Thunder used to mean family baseball games. All of them, together. Alice and Jasper - soul mates. And...now it meant nothing. Nothing but the sounds he needed to cover the crack as his fist connected with a thick tree. The bark shattered under the impact and showered him but he didn't care. He wished for the nth time that they had never come to this god forsaken place. Now, their hearts were irrevocably tied to it. The tree finally gave, in sync with a loud clap of thunder, and tumbled down with a resounding thud, the vibrations rocking him to the very core. A growl ripped from his chest - pained and angry and desperate. Everything they had spent so long carefully building had been violently shaken to the ground, the foundations of the Cullen coven shattered.

Jasper had been doing his best to stay out of the way. It seemed like the family was growing further and further apart with each passing day. Of course he couldn't help but feel responsible for all that was going on. The change that had created all the upheaval came from him. With a heavy sigh Jasper looked out over the forest surrounding him. It wasn't like he chose to stop loving Alice the way he once had, or chose to fall in love with Bella. No one has a choice when the heart is involved. Not even when your heart is no longer beating.
If it weren't for the fact that Bella needed the support of the entire family as she struggled through the newborn stage, Jasper would have suggested that they leave. As it stood she needed Carlisle and the others. While his experience with newborns was more extensive than even Carlisle's, this wasn't the situation that he was used to. Keeping newborns from killing each other had been his focus back in the day, now it was trying to keep Bella from hurting any humans. Jasper hoped that he would be better at helping her than he was at keeping himself in check.
He released another sigh, wishing that for even a short time he could just not think about the way things were and could contemplate the way he wished they would be. As Jasper sat there on a fallen log he felt the rain begin. In the distance he could hear that first rumbles of thunder. The sound immediately brought baseball to mind. It seemed like a very long time since the family had enjoyed their favorite group pastime. Then Jasper heard a crack that carried with it something more than simple thunder. He turned his head in the direction of the baseball field a short distance to the east. There was definitely someone there.
Rising from his makeshift seat, Jasper ran toward the clearing that served as the family baseball field. Before he even reached the edge of the forest he began to sense the strong emotions emanating from nearby. He knew the members of the family well enough to know the tenor of their emotions. Edward. Jasper hadn't had much, if any, contact with his brother since this all came to a head. That was part of the building tension within the family and it was time for that to change.
Drawing in a deep breath he held it for several seconds then slowly released it as he worked to settle his emotions as best he could. Facing what Edward was feeling right now was going to be hard enough without compounding things. Finally Jasper moved from the edge of the forest into the clearing. Edward was still a hundred yards away but he had to know that he was there. "Am I intruding?" he asked simply to break the silence.
